Pressure

Pressure can often compel our actions and dictate our direction in life. The word implies a deficiency of time and a surplus of consequence. Pressure distorts the empirical facts of any situation; it gives us tunnel vision. Pressure kills creativity and we become overwhelmed by potential consequences. It can take many forms but the way we manage pressure dictates the outcome of any situation. Like I said before, preparation helps manage uncertainty and thus helps to manage pressure. But uncertainty is a prerequisite of pressure, and if life has taught be anything its that certainty is an illusion. So, next time you feel pressure creeping up on you, embrace it. Let it keep your awareness sharp. Trust your line and hold fast.

Orea got off her line and had to improve the whole thing but still stomped it and ended up qualifying 4th. Fuck yeah.

 Things don't always work out.

The event coordinator granted me permission to traverse onto the course where I hunkered down under some trees and was fortunate enough to get some great shots of the action.

The finish from my perch high above.

Unfortunately I came down to the finish area right before my buddy Trace dropped. I was fast enough to get my camera out and get two shots of his three off a lower rock and coming into the finish. Sorry bud. Thank you to all the athletes who got out there and sent it big all weekend and thank you to Ron who gave me permission to go on course. My mind/brain has expanded.
